Cameron Diaz is standing by an unpopular marriage opinion! The 51-year-old star doubled down on her desire to “normalize” the idea of couples sleeping in separate bedrooms — or even separate homes.

The actress engaged in some lighthearted banter during an interview with Molly Sims and Emese Gormley for the besties’ podcast, Dear Media’s Lipstick on the Rim, along with her Avaline co-founder, Katherine Power. Toward the end of their chat, talk turned to Gormley’s relationship with her husband as she shared that they “don’t sleep in the same bedroom” due to his snoring.

“We should normalize separate bedrooms,” Diaz chimed in. “To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours. We have a family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in your room, you go sleep in your room. I’m fine.”

Prompting laughter from the other women, Diaz continued, “And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for our relations.”

As one woman warned Diaz that she was creating a “bad headline,” the Charlie’s Angels actress brushed it off.

“I’ve already said it,” she explained. “By the way, I don’t feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married.”

Diaz wed Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden in 2015. Together, the duo shares one daughter, Raddix, who turns four this month.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Diaz opened up about moving her family to London as she filmed Back in Action with Jamie Foxx. The film, which has not yet been released, will mark her first return to acting since 2014’s Annie

“It’s like riding a bike,” she said of performing.

“My husband and I made the decision for our family,” she said of her choice to accept the role. “It was really about what our family needed. We had been in Covid, our daughter was three months old when Covid started. She was wanting — we wanted to kind of get out in the world. Like, have to get out in the world kind of thing.”

Diaz shared that she and Madden split parenting duties while on location: Dad was on the day shift, running his businesses by night, while Diaz spent her days on set and took care of their little one in the nighttime.

“We were both kinda like, this is a great idea,” she joked. “But it really was. We had a great time.”
